Our Hearts and God

15032204_952334214873368_3086699654180213033_n.jpg

No matter what storm you face, you can have Jesus’ protection and His promises to shield you and cover you. All you have to do is seek Him and ask Him to BE your life and be your God. But it really isn’t a ritualistic formula of words that will bring you forgiveness and closeness to Him, because anyone can say this but their heart not ready for God whatsoever. Anyone can say they are Christian but their hearts be far distant from God, not in true fellowship with Him. It goes deeper than the surface. Much deeper.

No, it’s a heart and soul that realizes she can’t do it on her own. She must realize that she’s a sinner against a perfect, holy, righteous, just God and that she can’t save herself. She must realize that she needs Him to rescue her or she’s doomed. She must realize that He’s her only hope in this messed up life, that He’s the only way, the only truth, and the only life. She must get to a place where she abandons everything else and comes to Him undone. She must get to a place of having a tender, open, raw heart ready for Him to make His home in her and make her whole and heal her. She must recognize that no man can love her like He loves her.

It’s imperative to know that there is no point to existence without God, and that He’s the only one who could ever satisfy fully. When this happens, He becomes our Rock, unwavering through all the storms of our life. He becomes closer to us than our own heart beating inside of our chest. And speaking from experience, it is so incredibly good and nothing could ever compare.

You see, before His Spirit dwells in us, it’s hard to fathom having real affections for God. It’s difficult to comprehend that our burdens can be lifted. Our sin and guilt and shame can vanish. It’s hard to grasp that we can actually feel so close to Him – closer than any human being that might be right in front of us. That we can feel His love so strongly that He leaves us breathless and makes our heart pound hard inside of our chest.

It’s difficult to picture in our minds and hearts that this can be our reality…until, that is, it actually happens. Until we seek Him with all our heart, our mind, our might, and our soul. Until He fills us with Himself. But that’s why the first step is faith. We reach out to Him in faith, asking Him to be ours. What we get in return is beyond our own comprehension. And it is so incredibly good that all the words in all the languages on earth would never be enough to fully describe this gift.

Some say it takes a great amount of faith to hold onto and believe in an invisible God; I say, it takes even greater faith to believe that this all came from nothing and we’re here for nothing and we’re doing nothing then we’ll die into nothing.

THAT, friends, takes faith.

{Psalm 92:14-16}
The LORD says,
“I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who call on My name.
When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honour them.
I will reward them with a long life,
And give them my salvation.

Smoothie Bowl & Jesus

I look at beautiful foods and it leaves me in awe. I believe we humans were meant to appreciate these things with a childlike wonder as we gaze upon it and enjoy its benefits, rather than view these beautiful things as common and not special. We’ve lost the wonder and amazement in life and we need it back. We’re meant to enjoy and find pleasure from these precious everyday provisions.

When we do this, it all becomes too obvious that there is design behind literally everything in our natural world; food is definitely no exception. There is meaning and purpose and creativity behind food.

[Create]-ivity comes from a [Create]-or. Beauty does not come from nothing, but from something.

Someone.

Someone very special and beautiful and powerful and majestic. Someone who cares deeply and loves wildly and makes beautiful things for our eyes to behold and our bodies to value. Someone who is close and not distant but is indeed very, very personal. The One who is Lord over all the earth and the One who made these appealing and beneficial foods for humans to not only survive on, but to enjoy.

Let’s take back our wide-eyed wonder and pleasure of these things that we are so obviously meant to enjoy and not forget. There is Someone who is trying to speak to us, even through something as, in error, seemingly common as food.

He is telling us that He is very real, and that He cares. He loves, and He displays His love in these ways.
‭{Romans‬ ‭1:19-21‬}
“That which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

I love smoothie bowls! I love taking pretty, colourful, and wholesome foods and creating a beautifully presented plate.
Here is a smoothie bowl I made with blueberry & blackberries, topped with granola, sliced bananas, chia seeds, and more blackberries! *Almost* too pretty to eat.

In the Morning, I need Jesus

Yes please!💛

There is no better way to start your day with the resurrected King, the living God Almighty. The One who was, the One who IS, and the One who is to come. Oh, how my heart calls out to Him when my eyes open, longing for his sweet presence and intimacy. He fills my cup, and my soul is satisfied. He is the bread of life, and I need to eat the Word of God and absorb it into my being before I can do anything else. I do not live by bread alone, but by every single word that comes out of the sweet mouth of God.

There’s something extremely powerful about starting your day with Jesus. Just like food gives energy and sustains, you would never start going about your day without putting something in your stomach, lest you faint. Likewise (but so much more!), Jesus gives us everything we need to start our day – closeness with the living God and a satisfied soul, filled with His love and strength. It’s so imperative that lovers of Jesus spend deep solid time with Him! I don’t want to start my day with anything other than intimacy with God. I don’t want to see anyone before I talk to God and tell Him how much I love Him. I don’t want to get busy before I spend time basking in His light. If I neglect this, I neglect the very breadth in which I exist, and I will run on empty. I need His filling and His touch every single morning.

{Psalms 90:14}
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

When my eyes open, give me Jesus. 💛 He’s all I want.

God is my Home

13880121_876345879138869_4300126326162232288_n

God is my home.

He’s who I run to no matter what is happening in my life.
I run to Him without fear, I run to Him knowing He loves me so deeply that it’s impossible for my mind to comprehend.
I run to Him as myself, naked before Him, approaching His throne, nothing held back.
I run to Him face down on the ground in desperate love and total adoration.
I run to Him knowing He delights in me, seeing me as His treasured possession.
I run to Him, without energy and feeling like a failure, ready to fall into His arms.
I run to Him during all my great moments and occasions, knowing He’s the one who gifts my life with His favour and everlasting sweet presence.
I run to Him with all of my flaws, knowing he accepts and loves me with no matter what.
I run to Him in tears, face drenched, eyes red, face flushed, needing the comfort of my One true love.
I run to Him, always crying for more of Him.
I run to his sweet sweet embrace, at all times, in all ways, in every circumstance, in every day.

He’s my home. His arms are my home. His presence wrapping around me is my home and my only home. Though my physical body may reside in various places on earth, HE IS MY HOME.

Oh how I long for Him.

God is my Warrior

I can’t even begin to recall how many times in scripture that God calls us to have courage and to not be afraid. Hundreds of times. How beautiful is that? He’s so concerned with ensuring that if we’re His, we have absolutely nothing to ever worry about. God is sovereign and He works everything out for our good, for those who love Him. EVEN when we mess up and sin, and make mistakes, and fumble – time, and time, and time again. There is no better security or assurance than this! He wants us to trust Him as our warrior God, carrying us through this life on earth and fighting our battles as well as equipping us with His armour.

The battle belongs to the Lord our God. And He so delights when we fall to our knees, lift up our hands, and give all our cares and concerns and problems to Him. He adores a heart crying out to Him. He delights in taking care of us and sheltering us under His wing, as a mother hen covers her babies. We’re God’s babies, and we have nothing to fear, as long as we’re clinging to Him. He is in control and He is more powerful than even the most horrible circumstances or scariest situations. Even during these times and seasons, we have nothing to fear. The God of all that exists has us in the palm of His hand. We can never be snatched out of His hand, which means we have nothing to fear. If our God is for us, who can ever be against us??? Not demons, not any spiritual thing, no authority, no calamity, or hardship, or trying time, or pain, or even DEATH – not even death can separate us from God’s love and protection and sovereignty over our lives. His seal is over our heart, and our name is written on the palm of His hand. We’re His, forever. And He will protect us every day for the rest of our lives here on this earth.

What a glorious warrior King.💛

{Isaiah 49:16}
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

{exodus 14:14}
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

{The Song of Solomon 8:6-7}
Place me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it.

{Romans 8:31-39}
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” ) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

{Ephesians 6:10-18}
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

{Matthew 23:37}
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.”

His heart is so sweet.💛

I am God’s Artwork

13934975_873724202734370_8300704321817856757_n

When I was a child, I always wondered about the human body and the way it’s made. In my eyes, even as a little one, I acknowledged that our human bodies are perfect in form and structure. I would contemplate and analyze different alternatives: eyes near the chin and mouth on the forehead? Feet at the end of our arms instead of hands? A mouth on our neck? Ears on our cheeks? Legs flailing around at the side of our hips? I would sit there and examine this as an 8 year old child. It happened often. It was my mind wondering if this human body of ours really is random evolution from a chaotic boom, or was this designed? Is this body of ours, in all of its complexities, the way it is on purpose? With creativity? Intelligence? Wisdom? Care? Are our bodies perfect just the way they are made?

Everytime I would meditate and ponder this in my mind, the answer was always, always, always a resounding and overwhelming YES. Overwhelmingly. No other way works. No other form works, nor structure. Our bodies are designed in perfect function, way, form and beauty just the way God made it.

As you look into the science of how every single little part of our bodies function, such as toes or eyelashes or little parts holding us together on the inside, it’s evident that we were created by a Maker and we’re made so well and beautifully!

We were made in His image, and He created us with pleasure, purpose, creativity, supreme intelligence, and love. We are made with great reverence, heartfelt interest, and respect. We are wonderfully made. And oh, it is good. Just like He says it is.

We are living art created by the hand of the living God. 💕

{Psalm 139:14}
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

{Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭26,27,31‬}
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!”

King of L O V E

God is SO beautiful! I will breathe my last breath on this earth with my heart enthralled by His beauty and majesty. With my eyes wide open in awe as I drink in His wonder, His glory, His LOVE. My heart pounds and quickens at the mere thought of who He is. Just a thought of Him brushing up gently through my mind excites me more than anything ever could. He is God, the King of glory. The honour, the power, and the Kingdom are His forever. It belongs to Him and no other. As God’s people, the awareness of who we belong to should do something wild inside of us. A fire within us that cannot be quenched.

He’s not another created being, He is the Creator – the one who created all of this grand, harmonious, mind-blowing beauty that we are constantly saturated in. Oh, He is beautiful. No worldly King could compare to the ultimate King, the true King. The King who defines love just by being who He is. We can see just who our King and all of His majesty just by viewing all the glorious beauty we see on earth. As our eyes open, it becomes all too obvious. He is breathtaking and it is so exquisite to be close and experience intimacy and love with Him. Feast on the beauty and drink it in. It displays the goodness of God, which is too beautiful for us to ever comprehend. Lavish your love and adoration upon the King of love because He is the only One who truly deserves all of our heart, all of our love, all of our praise, and every ounce of worship we could give with all of our might.

What a exceedingly beautiful God. Jesus Christ, the King of L O V E.

{Matthew 6:13}
“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

His Presence

13873154_872347022872088_744217393220879826_n

His presence. There are no human words to express the decadent, rich, fulfilling, beautiful, holy, pleasurable presence of God. It makes everything in this world melt away. Only God can flood you with a supernatural peace not dependant on any single circumstance. He assures you that you’re loved by Him. He assures you that He’s in control, and He’s so concerned about every single thing in your life. That we need not worry, because the One who made us is incredibly committed to us. He’s compassionate, and he feels deeply for us. He’s ready to reign down His peace on us the moment we cry out to Him. He loves when we cry out to Him in need and want. It moves him. He is a God who is powerfully moved by our love towards Him.

When He comes and overwhelmingly fills us with his presence, it strengthens us, edifies us, gives us unworldly joy, deepens our hearts to His love, and so much more. A relationship with Jesus isn’t one-way. It isn’t us humans serving a distant God and following rules. Oh no, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. It’s responsive, tender, close, intimate, intertwined, all-consuming, and sweeter than anything. It’s full of love and even divine discipline at times, but always in love. His mission is to grow, shape, strengthen us, mould us more and more into the beauty of Jesus Christ. Preparing us for glory.

Having Him as our God, our Saviour, our Lord, our everything…we can count on knowing that we will never be left alone.

This truth alone floods my whole being with joy. I sometimes can’t contain it! Because I don’t want to be left alone in this uncertain world. I want my Saviour. I want Him more than anything, and having Him, I won’t let Him go for all the riches in the world.

Once you experience the presence of the living, powerful, Almighty God, you will never again look to anything else to be fulfilled. He is it. He is more than enough to give us everything we could ever need.

And He delights in doing this.

{Song of Songs‬ 7:6}
“Oh, how beautiful you are! How pleasing, my love, how full of delights!”
{Song of Songs‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬}
“Turn your eyes away, for they overpower me.”
{Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭20‬}
“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
{Romans‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬}
“He does this to make the riches of his glory shine even brighter on those to whom he
shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for glory.”
{Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬}
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Your Worth in God

13654117_868421513264639_1963885070779066348_n-2

Let your worth be found in the God who made you. There is a God, and He formed your body inside of your mother’s womb. He made you because He thought of you in His beautiful mind and He wanted you. You’re here because you are wanted. And you’re beautiful because you came from the mind and heart of God, and He only creates beautiful things.

This world and all its offences to the human soul will shred our worth, because its foundations are on worthless things. It’s foundations are not on the only worthy One: Jesus. When the world around you is built up on worthless things, you are susceptible to feelings of worthlessness because us humans are naturally a part of this fallen world. There is not an angle that this world doesn’t pierce a person’s very worth. And with every pierce, more of that person’s worth is broken off. This world is not forgiving. But you know who is?? God. And once you feel His forgiveness and His fiery love seep into your heart, you are not only made new, but built back up. He puts all the worth back into you that this world has taken away. What’s more, because you are His child, your worth becomes immeasurable because GOD came in human form, was beaten and tortured and PIERCED, just to give you Himself and the most valuable inheritance: Heaven with Him, forever.

That’s true worth. The only true worth. All other worth is worthless.

You have so much worth in Him.

God is Within Her

When you belong to God, you are HIS. He claims you as His very own. When you belong to God, nothing and nobody could ever detach you from Him. Not even yourself. Once you’re His treasured possession, there’s not a thing you can (or can’t) do that will end your relationship with Him. He will never turn His back on you. That’s because His love isn’t based on performance. It’s based on Him and His perfect loyal love and faithfulness. We as humans will always be imperfect, and at times, unfaithful, even though our heart may love Him so deeply. But once you are His, He never looks at a single flaw in you again. You are FREE.

And when you find true freedom in Him, it’s like you’ve been holding your breath your entire life and you can finally breathe.

Humans are enslaved until they become free in Jesus. He frees us from everything. He frees us from our sin. He frees us from the punishment of that sin. And even though belonging to Him, we will mess up all the time, there is no guilt or condemnation.

{Romans 8:1-2}
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
.

The regenerated, Holy Spirit filled Christian is flawless, holy, sanctified, cleansed white as snow, and pure in the eyes of God, even in the midst of our sin.

{Song of Songs 4:7}
O my love, you are altogether beautiful and fair. There is no flaw nor blemish in you!

My friends, those are His words to those who belong to Him. That’s because when you come to Him, every sin you have ever or will ever commit has been applied to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. You are free in God. He looks at His bride with SO much love, so much devotion, so much loyalty, so much favour, mercy, care that it actually leaves my heart ravished. There is no more need to feel guilty once you are His, because He wipes it all away. He is tender and sweet, never angry with us, because His anger was exhausted on Jesus.

He’s the perfect Knight in Shining Armour that every love story aches over but never truly finds in real life until it is found in perfect love Himself.
